I'm getting ready to install a TPI 350 into my Scout... actually I'm about to pull it out of the 87 TA it came in. Got a couple questions though.
#1 - Can I get rid of all the smog shit and still have the motor run right?
#2 - Who if anyone makes a custom wiring harness for them? Like say I just wanted such and such outlets on it, etc.?
#3 - For those who've swapped them into Jeeps or whatever else... what would you rate the difficulty level?
Any tips for pulling it out of the car, and for putting it back in?
Thanks in advance!

one of the best setups for a tune port manifold I have seen is the the one that accel sells. It includes the wire harness, a programmable proccessor and everything. It seems pretty reasonably priced. I personally havent used it. maybe someone else on this BB has? Most of the big performance parts outfits sell them. If you use the stock processor, it really depends on the year as far as emmission controls. later model OBD II vehicles (>'96?)will require more emmission parts to run good than older ones. That is one reason I like the Accel setup.

umm, i have one in my jeep..it was out of an 87...i called centech wiring harness and ordered a speed density harness from a 92. this way you can elimante the MAF sensor and get a MAP sensor. i have no EGR crap on mine, i just cut the ports off the exahust and welded them up. I would say that the swap was simple. the guy at centech knows his stuff and the harness comes labaled to what hooks up to where...and if you have any problems you can call them adn they will help you figure it out! easy fuel injection swap...good luck

www.azspeed-marine.com knows their shit, but are a bit pricey....they burnt my chip for me....
as for taking it out, take lots of pictures and notes if this is your first time...otherwise you'll wind up with lots of extra parts :D

So lemme get this all straight - BTW:
Bought the computer I need. Called Centech and ordered the wiring harness. Ordered a chip for it.
What do I need to do besides the above to rid myself of O2 Sensors, Emissions crap... etc.?????
What else am I gonna need besides a fuel pump, etc. to get the thing bolted in and running? Basically what I'm asking is.... what kind of problems am I going to have with this thing as far as swapping a computerized FI motor into an older vehicle? I DEFINITELY want it as simple as possible.... so whats up?
Thanks in advance!

you will need to slot the 4 center holes on the intake manifold if you are using 89-up intake on a 87-older engine...
watch your accesories, sometimes they will interfer with the TPI intake and such..so be ready for that....
you need the O2 sensor to to get the computer to run in open loop. But you can get an EGR valve cover plate from mister gasket and get rid of that.
well good luck

Ive talked to TPIJeep who lurk around here as I do  and seems like an easy modification if you get the right parts.
http://www.jimsperformance.com/carty3.html for the harness.
Get the Chevy TPI Fuel Injection Swaper's Guide by John Baechtel I just read it and it helps understanding it big time.
