Started up the jeep the other day (97tj 4.0l), and let it warm up for probably 30 seconds and want to take off and i get a huge hesitiation, it lasts about the time it takes me to get down the street then once the motor warms up a bit, all is fine and it runs like a top mostly, although i dont know if im getting the gas mileage/power i should be expecting.
i just did plugs/wires/cap/rotor, about a month ago. when i was changeing the rotor i noticed that the shaft the rotor sits on has a bit of play to it, could this be casueing my problem as well?.

Fuel pressure?

im not sure, but would it take time for my fuel pressure to build? the jeep starts and runs decent for about 30-45 seconds, if i leave it idle it just stumbles after 45 seconds or so of idleing, then if i give it a shot of gas it comes back and idles normal.

Note - not speaking from first had experience.
Read number of threads with similar symptoms and the fuel pressure comes up regularly. Assuming the first 3-45 seconds is idle time - not revving it, that should be sufficient to build pressure in the fuel rail, but it would be easy enough to check.
I get a similar lag sometimes after starting, but never enough to bother diagnosing.

Its more of a pain in the ass then anything, after the jeep warms up its fine, no noticeable hesitiation or anything, but its damn near impossible to keep the jeep under its own power when it is happening, i usually have to depress the clutch and coast for a few seconds, give it a few shots of gas and it usually subsides. if it is under its own power and i dont let it just idle, i'll get the "first time stick driver effect" and it looks like im on and off the throttle. and then all the sudden it will clear up and theres no hesitition, lag anything jeep runs great.
Since i work at Honda of canada MFG, my whole shift gets off at the same time and if you arent near the front of the line of cars your stuck for about 20 mintues. This is the time when it really pisses me off.

Pay the 40 $$ to have it scoped...Mine was doing that and the o2 sensor and the intake air tept sensor were bad. Don't know if thats ur problem but it's cheaper then replacing sensors while guessing
