Damn guys, almost 10 on the east coast and still no weekend report. Better be some good wheelin pics posted tomorrow:flipoff2:

I finished re-wiring the whole rear of my truck, fixed my blinker problem, re-connected the gas tank, and wired up a shitty stereo, and wirebrushed the bed to prep for herc, then couldnt do it because it was raining all weekend:rolleyes: also washed the scout for the first time in a couple months.

Looks like we double posted...

First off big thanks to one of my best friends JESSE ANGEL from this board for letting me kill part of his morning and mid-day working on the final "big" project of the year...much appreciated man...

Thursday:::
I found myself getting pissed about Optima's...ha ha ha. Also noticed that I must have fragged the last of the motor mounts. The new transmission really grabs and well...metal fan into metal shroud is not a good sound.

Cleaned the engine compartment to match the clean ass tranny...It had been ages since the motor saw soap...:D

Friday:::
Installed new battery and checked electrical system again. Got very fucking drunk.

Saturday:::
Picked up and installed new '69 DeVille Motor mounts. Don't forget to unleash the motor tie-down chain. Or you will spend an hour trying to figure out why the motor won't come out of the mount cradle...fuggin dork... My goodness it is sure nice to have a non-dancing motor...ha ha ha.

Got very fucking drunk...

Sunday:::
Drove to Tacoma and got some seat time on the freeway...:D Assembled Beadlocks this morning. Don't know if we did them right...but they hold air so far...
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=241482&stc=1&d=1145859206

Other than being not to sure about my $$ $$ tranny cooler and fan/switch and gauge placement....
Basically this bitch is ready to FUCKING WHEEEEEEELLLLLLL....:grinpimp:

Friday night I got a bit further on my extended cab project. Saturday I shot a turkey. Today I helped a buddy with an engine upgrade in his scout. Now it's time to relax.

Swapped out my points for HEI set up.
Installed it yesterday, no working & ran out of time.
Tweaked it today & it runs 10 times better than before.
No more flat spots.

Also bolted the plates under the body to the cage plates in the cab.
(they were removed when I re-did my rockers).
Just have to weld some tube from the plates to the new rockers.

I sold this Scout.

Now I'm down to only 1 Scout, a 2X4 Terra. However, I do have 2 sets of 44 axles and a Chev 350/700r4, just need something to put it into.

Didn't get to do anything even remotely wheelin' related. We found a leak on a 42" high pressure water main last week and we started excavating it and tearing into it Thursday. I ended up having to work 12 hrs on Sat. and 10 hrs on Sun. for free (sometimes being salaried sucks!!!!). Anyhow, by today, we had all the junk pipe removed and got the 42" pipe put back together.

Here's a shot of the 42" in the process of putting it back together.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=241432&stc=1&d=1145851751

Elsewhere on this same main, it reduces to a 36" main. We've had an inoperable gate valve on this main for years, so we took advantage of having it shut down and yanked this fawker out of the ground.
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=241433&stc=1&d=1145851751
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=241434&stc=1&d=1145851751

That 1924 era cast iron pipe is oversized by modern pipe size standards, so we had to chuck up a couple 36" solid sleeves and open up the inside diameter. Got lathe?
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=241435&stc=1&d=1145851751

Late this afternoon, we got the 36" butterfly valve installed and bolted up.

Sunday: Picked up a HP44 for cheap today. Also got a new Tauras fan as my old one just stopped spinning.

I guess did get much done, compare to everyone else.
Installed the new oil pump, and got the new pan all sealed up. Put the last of the parts back on the motor from when I pulled it a few months back. A few more odds and ends and it should be ready to start. Now that it stopped rain everyday, I hope to make some real progress.

Forked around on mine on Sat, replaced the melted tranny cable with a new shorter cable, also upgraded the mounting so it's more secure, then replaced the tranny mount, the old one was toasted. All that remains is to shorten the lower bag mount towers and secure the mufflers, then the beeotch is ready to wheel. :p

Sold my Traveall!

Dang, Mark.. I would've settled for a cheaper Birthday dinner and kept the Travelall.

I added a shelf and more cord hooks to my shop cart..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006CartOverhaulApril/DCP_0015.sized.jpg

Removed the tree that was hanging out of my grille, porta-powered the inner fender back mostly into shape, and cut more out of it out for tire clearance.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006TiggerAprilBrokenWinchTreeHub/DCP_0024.sized.jpg

So I could WHEEL on Saturday.. with another Scout, even..

http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/Frontier04222006Occidental/DCP_0047.sized.jpg

We both wound up pulling cable..

http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/Frontier04222006Occidental/frontier_club_april_22_2006_008.sized.jpg
http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/Frontier04222006Occidental/frontier_club_april_22_2006_004.sized.jpg

Except he just tried to pull the Ramsey off the front of his Scout, while my bumper stayed put.. so I blew up the Costco winch. Clutch is stripped, housing broke, and somewhere in all of that the cable snapped off the drum, despite 1.5 full wraps still on..

Then on the way back out..

http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/Frontier04222006Occidental/DCP_0050.sized.jpg

Which I then followed up by losing both front beads while in water.

Fun day.

Sheared three of the damn hub bolts off, and while drilling 'em out yesterday, I found the wheel hub finally took some damage after all of these years.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006TiggerAprilBrokenWinchTreeHub/DCP_0028.sized.jpg

I think I'm going to just weld it and run it... and watch closer for a 60.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006TiggerAprilBrokenWinchTreeHub/DCP_0030.sized.jpg

I'll see about Costco's "Satisfaction Guaranteed" policy this weekend..

FWIW, double lined, the Ramsey wasn't doing much for me, either.. too much heavy, wet snow under a pig of a Scout.

They'll take it back no quetions ask bro. You'd be amazed what I've seen come back while I've been working there 13 years. Well I spent the week in a 5 million dollar house in Puerto Vallarta. Jet skied, snorkeled, got sunburnt, ate more food than I ever thought I could. Very cool trip. Got tons of Gigs on the calendar so that was my last chance for fun probably before September.

Do I have to dig up the receipt I probably tossed? (D'oh)

Original packaging and "everything" or just bring in the broken winch, and wind up with an extra 95' of cable and remote. :P

we returned a set of phones that were a year old that starting sounding crappy - no box, no receipt and they didn't ask any questions.

As for my weekend, dropped the engine in my S80 project AGAIN and I think I am in the right spot, just need to cut the body for the manifolds, and for the kickdown lever on the C6 tranny and call it good.

Friday Night: Shot trap at a local gun club and came in third in the first shoot and second in a backer shoot with my buddy Jeremy. The second actually paid, so I shot all night long and only ended up spending 5 bucks.

Saturday: Got up WAY too early for the IHSTO truck swap meet. With the lack of advertising this year, I would say it went really well. People packed up a bit earlier then I would have liked, but we had a pretty good turn out. I picked up a set of Ford 5x5.5 and caliper brackets for my chevy front end swap and a hitch for my 74 pickup. Needless to say I left very happy. On the trip home decided I would go shooting and met up with my buddy Jeremy again. Headed out to the gun club completely unprepared and shot about 40 rounds. My gun is still off, but I am getting better as the grouping was very nice, just high and left. I need to adjust my scope....again. Got home in time to finish wathcing the NASCAR race.

Sunday: Watched the Formula 1 race in the morning. One of the best races I have seen in a long time!! Imola is such a brutal track! I spent the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon getting ready to move out, sorted through all my college stuff and prepped for moving next weekend. I spent the late afternoon and evening doing the first till on my Mom's garden. Took me about 2 hours and had to have the tractor in 4wd the whole time, even had to lock the diff a few times. IT was soupy sticky crap, but it's done, so the dirt can dry. We'll do it one more time, then mom can plant.

All in all, great and full weekend!

Same for me, swap meet (got some junk for the wife's Travelall, and mine).

Tilled the garden with the new/old tractor (only I was done in less than 20 minutes :D )

Spent the rest of the weekend doing yardwork and moved a huge pile of wood to clear some ground for the new building going in late this summer.

Fri: Broke a rear dump manifold on my pickup and spent 3 hours trying to 'fix' it. :mad3:

Sat: Worked the swap meet that Diesel Smoke and IHC-6 talked about --- bought the worst looking Scout II, I have ever seen - worse than the worst mid west Rust buckets I've owned. Found a new/used rear dump manifold.

Sun: Cleaned up a ton of parts, started in on the power steering box swap on my Scout - of course found a cracked frame. And of course waited 'til the hardware store was closed to go buy the 3 bolts I needed... :mad3:

Not much for me, I spent half of Saturday at the car lot getting my Jeep back, then I bought some 6011 and practiced some vertical up welds. They are not pretty, but they aren't all runny either.
Camped in my backyard, spent Sunday with the T-Maxx until I got bored, no one to race with.

Well I don't post except when i get lots of scout stuff done. so here goes. the 68 no longer has an...
engine,
transmission,
transfercase,
driveshafts,
wiring harness,
anything under the hood, or
gas tanks

next on the list is to tear down the 5/4 ton and prepare "Big Bertha" (appropriately named scout don't ya think?) for a driveline swap. Oh and I am officially sore from wrenching.

thanks for reading. maybe one of these days I will buy a red star and show yall pictures.

Yes - I wish I had taken a picture of it. The broken out front windshield really puts it over the top - its like they threw a cinder block through it...

I'm gonna part it out. I kind of felt bad for the guy that brought it, I didn't want him to have to take it home and unload it... So I had him drop it at Johns ... You should have seen Lisa's face as it was pulling in  She seriously did a triple take checking it out.
