Becket's rig is awesome! I look at that second shot and wonder how people can like low-rider FJ60's, this one looks so proportional with the nice 37's! DROOL.....

Soon I hope mine looks like that one. I currently have the axles off doing the SOA and shackle reverse. I am planning on running the Rancho 44044s in the front and chevy's (4 pack) in the rear. I figure the weight is about the same as a waggy. Not looking for height from the springs, I hope the sag to almost flat so i get a good ride and lots of droop. We'll see. I plan on puttig the suspension on this weekend and turning the knuckles as well. I only wish i had the $$$ for the lockers right now, so I would not have to tear into the axles again. I also plan on later installing a 350 and mate it up to a 5 speed toy tranny. I have an engine that i might swap for the tranny.
I have one question though. Is their any issues with the 4 speed split case? All the case problems i seem to see are with the one piece case on the FJ40s. Maybe its just because they are getting it all the time, or driving style. Should I be worried with the 350 and possible crawler box later???

I have begun contemplating doing the SOA but I gave away my stock FJ60 springs. I'll never need those, right? Right now mine has 33 BFGs under the 4" Dobinson lift. I am having a hard time justifying lifting it that high because then I can't get into parking garages and I use this truck for work and camping (lite wheeling). On a side note I'll probably end up doing the sring over. I'm dropping it off tomorrow to get a couple of rust spots fixed on the body and then within the next week she'll go to the paint shop to become orange or yellow I haven't decided.:)

my vote is for a "canary" yellow. a little brighter than AAA yellow if I'm thinking correctly. bright yellow looks SOOOO beautiful, yet cool on a sixty!!! :smokin:

TRD55,
Why are you not using the stock springs? Are the chevy springs longer than stock? are you moving the spring hangers? you might have a problem w/ the 44044's being too tall (especially when you go to V8 & if you remove leafs they might twist real bad (regular stock fj60 springs tend to bend S shaped REAL fast). just a thought.

The more I think about it though, it does sound like a good idea.

Let us know how it all turns out!!

Sixty - the stock rears are 48" compared to the 63 of the chevy's. I have a hard time believing that the stock springs would S real bad and easily. I guess when they are on the top of the axel it might be easier than on the bottom. Well i hope i do not have any problems. I hope they sag out with the weight of the 2F before I go to the 350. I fugure the 350 is about 150#-200# lighter. My stock springs are really sagged out. They have over 240K on them. I guess only time will tell.:D

I'll keep you posted..

Hey, thanks for posting some shots of the old bitch! :)

AA Yellow is a Land Rover color, you can see it on all those yellow Defender 90's out there.

She's getting a new door this weekend and her roof patched. Hillbilly style on the door, you know wrong color. I have an inquiry in to MudRak and I have to find a paint shop.:D
