My NP231 t-case is bad, I have not cracked it open yet to see what is wrong but the folks down at Hooze 4x4 (local Shop)tell me my chain is sliping. SO... I posted on a local web site on this issue and some from that site has a NP 208 which has a yokes for both rear and front drive shafts, I can kill two birds with one stone, replace the old t-case and get 1/2 of what I need for a complete SYE. (still need a Drive shaft)

So currently the plan is to swap the 208 for my current 231. Now there are couple of issues.

1. I have AX-5 tranny and the 208 that I have came from an auto tranny- SO the input shaft on my 231 is 21 spline and the the 208 input is 23 spline. The question is can I take the input shaft out of mine and install in the 208?

2. Since I have NEVER taken apart ether of these cases, where can I find a manual or a step by step to taking both of these cases apart?

Thanks folks...

Newbie note: Please keep in mind that I started this whole fix your own s##t 4 years ago with replacing my first water pump. So I'm learning as stuff breaks..

The best place i have found is the local library. You usually can,t check them out, but you can get photo copies........Good luck:smokin:
