I built a air system for my desert trailer.. bought a 7 gallon holding tank and used a spare oilless pump/motor i had.. But i think i need a check valve between the pump and tank? Cause when the pump tries to kick on with all the tank pressure it LAGS real bad and want's to pop the breaker.. So i have to bleed off air so it can start ok..

Where can i get a check valve that is made for air compressors?

and what you need is an unloader...

You need a check valve and an unloader. Usually the unloader is built into the pressure switch/motor contactor assembly. The check valve screws into the tank. The output line of the compressor goes into the check valve. A small line comes off the unloader and screws into the side of the check valve.

I used a 1/2" Bendix check valve made for OTR air brake systems. They have a max holding pressure of 250psi. I think I have three of them left?
