I'm putting a cage in my XJ in the next few weeks and I was wondering how much tubing you guys were using to build yours. It's gonna be my first one, so I know I'll have to get some extra because I am going to screw a couple sticks up. BTW I am going to be using 1.75x.120 DOM...

If you are going all the way back I'd say 6 or 7 sticks. To build off my stock roll bar in my CJ7 I used 4. (pics in sig line) Some of my mistakes I was able to re-use by just cutting out the screwed up part. You probably won't have as much waste as you think. Atleast I didn't.

Not a XJ but I used 40 foot of 2" x .120 for a minimum cage incorporating the existing factory hoop. Three hoops and a few connecting sections. You could easily use another 20 foot depending how secure/safe/stronger you want to make it. Photos of the build here:

Good luck

140+ for an xj... with no waste, depending on design.

We have about 7-8 sticks into our XJ. Pics here (http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=57913).

Not an XJ but I used not quite 5 sticks for an early Bronco cage. The only mistake I made I cut in have and used for spreaders. Just think it all out and measure twice or thrice and cut once. Also remember a 90* bend on a 5.5 radius die for 1.75" tube uses about 9" of tube. Hope that will help you figure out how much tube you'll need.

Thanks! This is gonna be an interior cage, so i will order 7 or 8 sticks, depending on what the price is and if I get a price break at any point. I'll be sure to post pics when I'm finished.

I have about 150 feet of 1 3/4 .120 DOM on my CJ7 and I will be adding about another 35 to 40 feet. I do not know were it goes because my only scrap metal is a couple of chunks less than 5".

remember the shortest distance between to points is a straight line. So if you've triangulated it, it adds up. Post pics, I'd like to see 150 feet in CJ7.
