Hey there, I am trying to figure out what I need to do with my proportioning valve on my 01 TJ when I swap in the 8.8 with rear discs, I have heard to use part number 5083808AA, but then people say not to use that one because its for the drum brakes, and they say to use 5083807AA.
What the hell one do I use? What have you guys done with yours??
Thanks a lot.

I just checked those out, pretty nice and cheap. So with that, I just hook up the 4 lines, then turn the knob to adjust the pressure, and the pressure is the same all the way around?
Thanks!
Now that I look at it more, Do I have to have 4 of these things all for each line??

I never touched my proportioning valve when I did my 8.8 swap almost a year ago and I've had no problems. You could get a prop valve off of a ZJ with disc pretty cheap.

So you had rear drums before the swap, and then the 8.8 you put in had discs right? Does yours stop better then it did before the swap? I have heard of some people not touching the valve, and having no problems. Maybe I just won't touch it.
Thanks.

I picked up a valve at the junk yard from a Grand Cherokee with 4 wheel disks. I think I paid $5 for it and it seems to work perfectly.

I've got a 2001 TJ and never messed with the prop valve. You don't need to waste the time or the money. Mine's got plenty of stopping power.

Yep, I was surprised how much better it stopped as compared to the drums. I did get a ZJ proportioning valve, but I never installed it and sold it as I didn't see any reason to swap it in.

Did my swap in august of '05, never messed with the prop valve and it's my daily driver. Seems to work fine.

Awesome, thanks guys. I am just going to run without one for now, see how it is.
Thanks again.
