Has anyone used an OME shock with the Rockware Cones and Eye to Eye shock mounts? I have a Rancho set up now, but I am looking to change the fronts to an FJ80 shock that will extend my droop (OME), and was thinking that it would be best to keep everything OME. Thoughts? Flames? Ideas? I don't have an OME application chart. I have one for Rancho.

I take it you don't know what an Emu is...

Remember...The that shock is really just a run of the mill Monrroe (sp?) with a picture of a funny looking chicken on it designed to impress those who would otherwise not know...But I really don't have any strong feelings about OME.

I still contend that the Rancho 9012's are the best value goin'. I've literally beat the piss out of mine..Blued the shafts, Punched the case in 1/2" x 9" and never had a seal leak or eyelet break etc...Sure you'll hear a lot of stories about eyelet's breaking (after they bottomed their shock because of inadequate lift), seals leaking after one trip to Dairy Queen etc. So fin' what? Their guaranteed...And you get (near) 14" out of them.

My thoughts exactly. But I thought I might hear something from the other side. I like them because I can soften them out for washboard and gravel. It is much easier to go 40mph on the way to the "real" trail then 10mph and feel like your loosing your fillings.

Hey D, since we're talking Rancho's (my favorite shock BTW, even though I get EMU's practically free....),

I have a question about the shocks I want to put on the 145.

I am going to go with the stock mounting points both front and back, and am looking to get the longest shock I can considering the stock location restrictions.

The one concession I am more than willing to make is the addition of a U bracket on both lower shock mounts (front and back), to perhaps give me the additional option of an eyelet on the bottom.

Thoughts??? Part no's???

Thanks!

M

Yea...Con-fer makes a u-bracket that's jussssst perfect for the id of a rancho...Can't remember the part, number, but it's pretty obvious when you look at them.

Another option is to take a piece of 2x2x3/16 square tubing and cut the seam end off...Grind smooth....puch a coupola' 1/2" holes and you have a nice bracket....Of course ordering a $4 u-bracket from Con-fer is much easier.

Another is AA manufacturing...Sorry I'll have to dig up the urls' at work...

I can get the Con-Ferr brackets, I already have a pair.

What I guess I was looking for were any Rancho part no's for the longest eye to stud or stud to eye (depending on front or back) I can fit in there.

Mebbe I should just surf the Rancho site for a while.

Thanks though. I had forgotten about the other bracket manufacturer even though the conversation was what, about a day ago???

:)

Mike-

Do a search on this site, I think Old Scout posted a link to the Rancho specs recently. Discoweb has a similar archive...you will get compressed and extended lengths of shocks but I'm not sure about mount type.
