I have made a few sets of these. They are pretty easy to make and use the stock hardware. Just fill them with a few sheets of styrofoam and a couple squirts of the expanding stuff and they hold up great.

I built mine, but it was pretty labour intensive and welding suzuki sheet metal is a pain in the ass.

I'll do my best. It has been several years since I made any, but here is what I have from foggy memory:

First you gut the doors. Take out everything inside and out. I then snap a line along the outside (with the door on the car) from the top of the cowling to the rear body line under the targa. I use an abrasive wheel on a skill saw to cut through the entire door in one pass. It helps to put some wood blocks inside. Be careful that your cut leaves enough of the inner door latch mount (the lower screw hole) so that you can use that later.

Then you need to cut out the small bulged piece that is left from the original outer door handle. I scrounge a piece of sheetmetal from the top part I cut off and weld it into place using a half-dozen tac welds. Same with the hole left by the door lock. The I bondo the rest of the cracks.

For the inner handle, I use the stock one. I just install the bottom screw, then bend over the top part that sticks up past the cut line. I works fine with only one screw. Then install the part of the inner latch mechanism rods that are required to hook you back up to the latch. Here is a closeup of the inner latch.

For the top of my doors I used a piece of brushed stainless I got bent for me at the local steel yard. It is spendy, and aluminum would work fine too. The last touch is I fill the dors with shet styrofoam and add a few squirts of the expandable foam to keep the shets in place (be easy on the stuff as it will bulge your doors).

That's about it. HTH.

Mine have change some as far as the hitch assembly, but here is a set of pics show how I did them.

http://www.rokzuki.com/samurai/html/halfdoor.html

I used 2x3 tubing cut and welded to the shape I wanted. I re-wrapped the door panel and extended it over the top edge and put it between the tubing and the outer shell. Then just riveted the whole thing together. I padded it to make them a little more comfortable and with the fake leather it keeps them from getting too hot.

I built mine from stock doors. Cut to shape and caped the top.

I took the latch rod, and straightened it. Then roughted it upward and out the top cap. Then bent the end of it over. To open the door I just have to push down on the rod.
