I have a 78 F250. When I bought the truck, the brake lines had been completely removed except for what i believe is a proportioning valve.

I have the big twop piston dayton disc brakes in the front and the drums in the rear.

I went to the junkyard and grabbed some hard lines off of a 78 F350.

There is what i believe to be a proportioning valve the bolts to the frame next to the 2wd steering box location and another one that bolts to the rear of the engine crossmember, below the oil pan. Neither looks like my stock one.

The frame mounted valve has a line to the rear brakes, a line to the valve on the crossmemeber for the front, two lines to the booster, and a plug with two wires on it.

The crossmember mounted valve has a line from the frame mounted valve, and a line to each of the brakes in the front.

-Am I going to be able to run this?
-What are these things that I think are proportioning valves?
-Where do the wires go?

Thanks.

Typically the one on the left frame rail is your "combination valve". It consists of a metering orifice for the line to the front brakes, a pressure balance switch to trip the dummy light in the dash if there's a problem with either the front or rear brake circuit, and a proportioning valve for the rear brake circuit. I'm not sure what you're talking about on the cross member under the engine...maybe somebody else will. I'd be surprised if it was more than just a T-block, but I don't know.

My 1978 F250 4x4 has two brake lines from the frame mounted combi valve for the front brakes, so no need for a tee at the front.
