Its an EFI 351 with about 90K on it. Accaisonally my truck will sputters like it's out of gas at idle and at a cruise below 2000 rpm, even when truck is full...when it does it I hear a tick in the engine bay. And then it ramps up to 2100 rpm and stays like its in the warm up mode but this will be at a stoplight about 10 or so minutes into my drive......My Chiltons manual has about a page of diagnosis and I was wondering if anyone has an idea where to start or if there is a common problem here.

other possibility is the TPS
