Can anyone tell me if there are lubrication issues with flat towing my 82 bronco with a np208 transfer case. I am only going to be towing 30 miles max at one time and want to avoid disconnecting the rear driveline if possible.
Thanks

it would damage the tranny.
just take the 8 fukin nuts off and pull the rear shaft

can't you put the t-case in neutral?

That should be all you have to do.

im not an expert on 208's but some of those types of t-cases still spin the internals when in "neutral". all they really do is disconnect the input. but then again, im no expert.

even if thats true doesn't the fluid just splash on the gears when its driving? there's no pump that wouldn't be running if it was just being towed. a manual tranny shouldn't be bothered by towing either. the only reason i know of to disconnect anything is if you have an auto tranny, the fluid wouldn't be pumped to where it needs to be

someone correct me if i'm wrong

208 has a pump, and it works fine cause its driven off the rear output, just need to make sure it stays in neutral.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know. I didn't know if the pump was on the input or the output. As long as the t-case is in nuetral the tranny won't be affected, auto or not, correct?

be careful with that. last year we towed my buddies '82 bronco and the transfer case jumped into gear and got busted. We had towed his bronco like that before and it was always fine, but it only takes that one time and you're t-case takes a crap. So take the time and pull the driveshafts
