Got a buddies 2002 F250 SuperDuty with the 7.3 (170k miles) that is being worked on, and was curious if anyone had the numbers handy as far as what the compression should be. Currently, it is measuring 180psi on #1 cylinder and was wondering if that is too low; best we recall it should be fairly higher than that. It's not my vehicle so I don't have any books on it and my Mitchell on Demand only goes up to 2000. Anyone have a quick number handy for what it should be at?

The compression ratio is 21.5. Never took a reading on one but I'd think it should be much higher than that.

all the 7.3 motors are the same ratio.

On a 7.3L IDI, yes... 21.5 is correct.
On a 7.3L PSD no... it is 17.5

It should be a lot higher. On the IDI's its 425-480ish that is considered good. PSD should be even higher than that.
