I'm just about done with my Samurai project and will be looking for something new to start. The Idea of a buggy looks cool, anybody have a rough Idea what a well built Formula would cost to build not counting the cost of the doner vehicle? I'm not going to build for total comp as there is a lack of events here in WA ( Goldendale is the only one that comes to mind) But I'd like a rig for the hardcore stuff without the mega costs of some buggy's seen in magazines.

If you do all of the labor yourself you can get by for a bout $10,000 in parts.

if the donor vehicle has everything you need. then i would add about 2 to 4 grand worth of crap to put on the buggy. just depends on what you do. if you ever want to compete in rockcrawling, you have to travel. there will never be 4 comps in the same area.

I'm at about 12K for mine. But like Hobie said, you can do it for alot less if you have everything you need. Problem is, it's tempting to start shopping cause your basically rebuilding a truck from the ground up and you'll want to build it the best you can for your budget.

We'll be keeping trck of new costs for ftoying an existing rig, just for reference. That wont be for a little bit, but I think it would be helpful for folks. It cuts our future cost down becuase we've got diffs, axles, dual case, tranny, motor, frame, etc.

Anyone have an accounting of their build in a spreadsheet format? That would be a tremendous planning aid!

Hell Ya'...that steering wheel is gonna be bigger than Gold Teeth. 62 bucks, it's the cheapest Grant Wheel you can buy.

I've counted pretty closely, my wife has reminded me almost monthly!

I kept a pretty good tally, I'm about 15K into it. That's including the value of the stuff off of the old bus and the sponsored items.

I volunteer to create a spreadsheet that lists all items needed to complete and F Toy and approximate cost, and make it available here if I can get that information from those of you who have completed their rig.

I can use information in any word processing or spreadsheet format. If you have the information in a word processing file such as MS Word, please put a "tab" between the name of the item and the cost.

Please use "real" names for parts. Not "chunk" or "rubber" ... if unsure, post here and we'll come up with a definitive definition for the terms used.

Keep the names of parts brief, but complete.
List prices without cents. Do not add dollar signs (though you can leave them in if they're alread there.)

I can use complete or incomplete accountings and combine them, post them here for additions and keep doing that till we have it done.
