hey guys- i am heading to the local yard this weekend and want to clear this up before i waste any time looking. can you run a 15" wheel on a drum braked 14 bolt. i did a sear and just found that it will work if your running cadi callipers and i don't have the $$$ to convert over right now. also, is there anything particular i should look for when i'm there? good years, etc.

thanks alot- russel

15" will clear drums. When I did the disk conversion, I had to grind the front backing plates more than I had to grind either set of calipers.

I used 15x10 with 2.5 back spaceing and cleared my rear disks with out grinding and that back spacking will clear a front 60 without grinding also. The cadi calipers are for an e brake other wise front 1/2 ton calipers work fine.

i got a 14 bolt with drums in my blazer and i run 15 in wheels with 2.5 backspacing, my buddys suburban has a 14 bolt with drums and he runs 15 inch wheels with 4in back spacing, they fit fine in the back with no grinding, he had to grind a ton in the front on the 44 though, so you should have no problem in the rear.

This question is asked all the time. There is more of a problem mounting 15" wheels on disk brakes rather than drums. With the disks you have the caliper outside the diameter of the rotor. With drums you dont have that issue. What was the largest diameter brakes the 14 bolt came with? 13" Still gonna fit inside a 15" wheel. The 13" brakes came on the dually 14 bolts and the drums on those look like a huge bell and do get anywhere near the 13" mark until the outer most portion.

Sorry just venting :D
