Made a good run at Fordyce last weekend. There was some serious run off on almost every trail up there. No snow at driveline hill. We made it to the ridge right before the first crossing where it drops off two the left big time. That section of trail is narrow with no snow. Anyway I tried to cross that section, but my rig kept slipping into the canyon and I had to be winched back to keep from falling in. Going back up this weekend to try to break trail a little further...

sounds good, how did you slip off the trail into the canyon if there was no snow on that section.

I should clariy, that section is narrow even without snow, so the snow makes it even worse...

we are heading up there is Sunday, should be at the staging area about 10am
, just talked to my PG&E friend,, he increased the flows out of Fordyce today to 150 cfs,, but said the 1st crossing should be closer to about 200cfs with all the runoff,,,

Dayum, that was a while ago......I remember that trip:( I think that's when I first got bitten by the Dana 60 bug. I'll dig up some of my pics. The river sure was flowing that weekend...

Ok here are 2 pics so u can see how far the current pushed me down stream. Just before the 2nd pic the water dunked to cover the headlights and up to the top of the hood, hole in the ground. someone got some video of it, but I never got a copy I didn't know them.

CFS= Cubic Foot per Second, there are aprox 450 Gallons per minute in 1 CFS,,,,

One of the PG&E operators once told me, that while they were flying the river in the helocopter, about 7 years ago, they noticed about 8 people on the other side of the 1st river crossing at Fordyce,, all looking downstream,,, so they flew back over to see if they needed help,,thats when they saw 3 CJs all strapped together and about 100 feet downstream under about 15 feet of water,, the Jeeps were all on their wheels,, and even had all the gear tied down on their racks,!!!,, just under water, they told the PG&E guys that they thought it would be safer to just strap all the rigs together,, but when the 1st and 2nd Jeeps started floating downstream,, the 3rd just became their kite tail,, and off they went,!!!:)
