I saw it at Slee was thinking of installing one and wanted to know if it was worth it. Does anyone have one installed? Was it worth it? Do you like it? Or could you do without it?

What it does is allow you to run without the front driveshaft if you ever crater a shaft on the trail.

I don't see it as much more that a gee-whiz item myself.

Christo forgot to hook his up once on Double Whammy in Moab and he was having a hell of a time getting up.

He had both ARBs locked but not the center diff (forgot) and it would not make the climb.

My '80 with just 1 rear locker made it.

IMHO that is just one for switch you have to remember to switch when you are wheeling :D

I like the switch as it allows for tigher turns in low range with less windup while unlocked. Just one more variable you can use offroad and in the snow, etc.

Nice to be able to unlock the center diff in low sometimes. Other than that, not much use. It only takes about 10 minutes to install it though.

Wow... you all really don't know what it's for??? Install the switch, pull the plug on the Xfer case (visible from the rear at about the 1 OClock position) and you can lock the diff in 4 High as well as run 4 low without the center diff locking.

My point is *So What*?? I would rather have one of the $100 80 series cupholders......

it was recommended to me so when backing up(in low range) with my 23 foot stingray powerboat on pavement it would leave the center diff unlocked and prevent binding

I think they are fockin' cool. I always hate unfilled blanks in my dash. I plan on getting one. Another good reason is my 80 is a '94 and I don't have a provision for the cup holder. :flipoff2:

Did I mention they are fockin' cool?

Well my point is that that is what it does. If you want this imaginary $100 cupholder (which I haven't seen at a dealer for that price) wouldn't it be a good idea to GET an 80 first?

Cup Holder (http://www.sleeoffroad.com/products/cup_order.htm)

Diff Lock (http://www.sleeoffroad.com/products/difflock_order.htm)

OOPS, missed on the price :flipoff2:

I think both are an equal waste of money.

As long as you have full time 4WD on your FZJ-80 and you use the 4LOW on loose surfaces, you will never really need the Diff Lock switch.

Of all the miles in 4LOW that I had in my FZJ-80, I never felt the need for the diff lock switch.

As for the cupholder....I spilt more crap due to that "diving board" design!

Crapola!
