is there a slot in the fuse box of a 00' TJ for an illumination light/dimmer similar to the feed that runs the lights behind the dash? I need to splice in to an illumination wire for my ARB compressor but I just dont want to risk breaking a bezel when trying to get behind my head unit.

I already know that there is a switched power slot that runs the cigarette lighter in the fuse box that Im going to tap into.

On some TJ's there are two extra auxiliary wires in the back of the fuse box. One is constant hot, the other is ignition hot, if I remember correctly. My 2000 TJ had them but they are hard to find.

Remove the glove box, and start fishing around the wiring harnesses that come out of the BACK of the fusebox. I think they were near the top right corner of my fuse box, just two untapped wires comingout of the box about 6 inches. I suppose they were originally intended for dealer accessory usage.

Check for them, you might get lucky back there.

Just re-read your post. I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for. I thought you were looking for a fused power wire, but you said illumination wire. You only want to run your ARB in the dark?? :flipoff2:

haha no the switched power fuse slot will be used to run the power to the ARB, I already located that one....the illumination wire lights the tiny lights in the ARB activation switches. The fuse that I need to tap into controls all the dash illumination once the head lights are turned on. I.E-heating, air conditioning controls,and gauge lights. So when I turn the headlights on the tiny lights in the switches will light up, so I can find them when I wheel in the dark and I do.

I gotcha now. Not sure on the fuse box side on that one. The dimmer wire is usually an orange wire, though.

Should be able to pick out one you can use in the fusebox fairly quickly with a voltmeter, the fuse box labels, and somebody to turn the headlight switch on & off.
