When I made my rear bumper/cooler/tire carrier I modified the stock mounting plate by opening a large hole in the center that now accepts a spare hub, spindle, birfield and lockout. It can accept a spare disk brake too, but I took that off because it was getting a little heavy and I'll probably never need it. The hub bolts to the mounting plate and then the spindle and birfield slide in from the back side. If I need to use the hub, I just replace the original mounting studs and put the tire back up.
I just dropped some film at the camera shop this morning so I'll post some pics when I get them back.

The pipe at the opposite end the the tire mount has a pin in the vertical pipe. Do you have a rack or ? that fits in there? If so do you have pics of the assembly?

No rack just two tubes that held my spare rear axles.
Just slide them in the tube and wrap a large zip tie around the studs and through the loop that is visible and they stay tight.
