I am finishing up my drivetrain (460,C6,Atlas) and am building a crossmember. Do I need to use any type of rubber or poly bushings between the crossmember and the tranny mount or can I just slap a 2x4 square tubing in there and call it good?

it would be wise to use some kinda of isolator either right under the tranny or out at the attachment to the frame. I have seen both, I used a energy suspension GM tranning mount to the AA adapter. The crossmember is a piece of rectangular tubing 1" X 2" X .120 with a piece of 2" .065 angle as an additional strengthening member.
If could have jettisoned the GM mount and bolted the rectangular steel right the the AA Adapter and then a spring bushing out at the frame rails to provide a little movement. I saw that in one of the 4wheel mags, on project all american

if you do not use some sort of rubber/poly mount you will crack your tranny eventually!! :(

Yeah, you'll need to put something in there. I went with the frame side bushings so that I had more clearance. Here is a picture of it just tacked together. I will drill holes in it once I get the final position figured out.

Well, actually...that's what I'm wearing right now...I walked out to the garage and took a pic to help out a fellow PBB member. :flipoff2:

Damn Scoutdude, you are the man. Thanks for the extra effort!   I also have a question about the flexplate so could you just unbolt the tranny and take a pic of that too?:D
Thanks!
