anybody running or know of anybody running a fiberglass body for early bronco? my body on the bronco i just bought is restorable but i might as well buy the body and not have to worry about the dreaded 1/4 panel rust and stuff. just wanted to know about what i have to keep from older body, any kinds of pros and cons and using it. it would really work in my favor to do the fiberglass body cause then i have to pull the orginal body and do my frame up with my engine work and suspension setup and all. -kris

Lots of people running them, but I would choose to fix the steel body if you can for what the fiberglass will run you costwise. You ever wire a fiberglass rig? Grounding becomes very critical as the body does not conduct electricity.
Lot's of pros and cons, but it really depends on what your long term goals are for the Bronco and where you live relative to the rust belt.

i live in virginia, but id like it to be rust free. good point about the grounding though, never thought about that before. i would be installing new painless wiring harness or something. everything would have to grounded to frame then right? -kris

You can learn a lot by looking at how the hot-rod guys do it with the glass reproduction bodies. Most will have a ground bus bar in the interior for the gauges and dash and then one big lead back to the battery neg terminal. If you're going with an aftermarket wiring harness like Painless, you might let them know what you're doing and I'm sure they have more pointers to give than I do.
I'm glad I can't even comprehend the rust issues you guys deal with :grinpimp:
