I read somewhere that there were 2 sources of 35 spline Dana 60s. I was a J20 Jeep truck, and the other were certain one ton vans. I just saw a 1983 Ford Econoline, believe it is an E350, I have the GVWR if that matters, but is has an 8 lug semi floating Dana 60 in it. Does anyone know if this would be 30 spline or 35 spline?

I've pulled plenty of f350 van shafts and most are 30 spline poopers

I pulled mine from a 75 E350. It had 35 spline shafts......in a D70!

A lot of the large vans have 35-spline, semi floaters (D60 or D70). Much more rare is the 35-spline D60 full floater. (I have one of those:D :D )

I take it a Dana 61 is no good? I also looked on the dana axle listing and most 61s were ff, this was definitely semi floating. So it should be 35 spline.....

Also, I don't really think there will be any problem pulling an axle shaft - how will I tell a Dana 60 from a Dana 61? Telling if it is 35 spline or not should be easy of course.
Any idea on WMS width? And gearing?

61 FF is good, SF is not so good. Sandy Cone Ind. makes spools etc for them. The 61 FF is 35 spl... They were intended to run only high ratio (3.73 etc) gears, so to run low gears, you need a ring gear spacer or the specialty spool...D70 is good too, and no messing with spacers...
