edit 10-10-2007 Please read through ALL of this before posting. It's OLD and I hereby unvolunteer myself for this project, but will leave that post up in case someone wants to take up the gauntlet.
---

OK, Let's try this again. I'm going to start my OWN thread and see if I get a better response... This is a repost from my response to Plepper.
----------------------
I volunteer to create a spreadsheet that lists all items needed to complete an F Toy and approximate cost, and make it available here.

If you kept ANY records, complete or spuratically, please send it to me. I can use complete or incomplete accountings and then I will combine them, post them here for everyone to make additions/corrections and keep doing that till we have everything accounted for.

I can use information in any word processing or spreadsheet format. If you have the information in a word processing file such as MS Word, please put a "tab" between the name of the item and the cost.

Please use "real" names for parts. Not "chunk" or "rubber" ... if unsure, post here and we'll come up with a definitive term to use.

Keep the names of parts brief, but complete.

If you have info, email it to me at --- Attach the file, rather than put it into the message. I will explain if you don't know how to do that.

If you have gotten "special" pricing, please do not include that info. I will try to come up with "average price" or a range, as I collect the information.

Becuase of the way our company server works, I cannot send an e-mail by clicking on a link. I'll try this one more time. YOU send me and e-mail and I'll reply to it with the spread sheet

Maybe this is one of those investment counselor tricks where you write down every penny you spend for a month then when you go back and look at it you say "Holy Fawk I spent how much at Starbucks!!".:homer:

More likely it will just be a good tool for those thinking about ot just starting a build. This would be of no use for a Pro Mod style rig but for Ftoy where all the rigs are basically the same I think it will be helpful.

Do these ship assembled or bent tube? Also, about how much are you guys paying for shipping. Just trying to get all my costs in order to build one this winter. Thank you.

Do we really want an exact expense record to possibly scare people off? You could probably build one from a lifted trail toy truck with no additional expense except cage and some metal. But, If you are going to build a trick rig like mtbrjohn or FROR your bill will be a lot higher.

Actually, mine will look good on paper as I already had most of the stuff and picked up some of the parts for free like the E-locker Taco rear axle. Most of the cool stuff we built and i'm assuming the spreadsheet won't have a cloumn for owners labor.:D

Even if there are no cost given a list of items needed to build an Ftoy would be nice then have an additional section for items needed specifically for comps (kill switch, window net, specific body panels, firesuit, neck brace, etc.). Seems this would help in all the usual newb "i'm starting my build" questions.

We're working on gathering our costs on the rig build not including what we already had. I think it will be surprisingly low.

I'm bartering/scrounging for a lot of stock Toy parts, and only buying the things I can't trade for or build--Longs, hydro assist, duals, tires, gears, e-lockers, etc.

I'm shooting for $6k, with all the major parts accounted for (and prepared for/expecting $8k.)

Starting basically from scratch my build is budgeted at close to $13k.

I already had a decently built toyota. On this build I am trying to do everything correctly and with the best products within reason. I will be done with my build under 7K. Also I sold parts off the old truck and got 1K. So in this build I am at 6K net.

No, way, Globe was the bomb:smokin:! My wife even had a good time, and she ended up with a "judge" t-shirt (by mistake) and I only got a "staff" shirt!

Globe did sorta make some things clear for us though, one of them is that although that event was a great deal of fun, we really want a go-anywhere camping rig.

I thought my idea (a realistic cost spreadsheet) was brilliant, but it didn't catch on. I only got one response from ... DesertToy.

My build should come in at right around 7k. I'm at 4k right now but I got my chassis on the cheap side(raffle). That includes duals, chromos, high steer, hydro assist, new springs, seats, 5 point belts, lockers F&R.

I've still got propane and tires left and some small stuff.

I'll let someone else take the ball here if they want to. Building an Ftoy is no longer a serious consideration for me. I just stopped in to say hi.

I spent $5 on a raffle ticket, does that count as a parts list? If you count the other 100 or so tickets that didn't win, I guess I'm a little over $500. Thanks again to the Tinbenders and all the venders in my sig.

Not very fast but thats getting ready to change. I have completed my other projects and ready to dig into this one.

Is the April toyota run an annual event?

07 was the first year for it but I'm pretty sure the plan is to make it annual.
