Got a little tired of welding and wrenching on my truck. Decided to do a wood project for a change. Building my own Take-Down Recurve bow. Should end up at 55# when all is said and done. Here's a link to my buildup on my club's 4x4 bbs.

So far so good. I'm really stoked to get to the riser carving this next week.

Wow!

I'm also back into archery after a 15-year hiatus...(currently shooting compound).

After getting into building traditional kayaking stuff, I can see myself building some more traditional bows and arrows.

Yeah, then traditional wheelin'. Maybe an old flatfender on 28's!! :D

Some twit dry fired my recurve and split it all to hell. Maybe I'll build one. :D Nice work btw. Definitely post up finished pics.

Thanks for the props guys! I spent 5 hours tonight carving the handle mostly with files and rasps, a little dremel action, and a sanding drum chucked up in my drill press at 1800 rpm :D .

My site that I'm uploading my pics and buildup thread doesn't like cross-linking pics so here's the thread link again. I'm really stoked at how well the handle fits my hand.

THe riser block I'm building out of is actually dyed and laminated 1/16" birch laminations. Very strong. The limb core material is the same stuff. I think it's called powerflex action wood, or something like that. Carves up nice. I've seen rifle stocks made out of the same stuff.
