I recently got my hands on a Milwaukee chop saw. I copied some info from it and this is what it looks like (google image)

I got it free because it was not working. I know absoluty nothing about chop saws, but it sounded like the gears or something were stripped in it. It would take about 10-15 seconds to wind to full speed, and as soon as a load was applied - it stopped the blade while the motor was still spinning full speed.

I tore it apart and the helical gear on the motor is shot, as is the other gear that the cut off wheel attaches.

It's a bit late now, but are parts reasonable for this thing? It looks like the shaft is a one piece on the motor which means it may be a few bucks, not to mention the other gear. Im just wondering if it's worth getting parts for or just getting a new one? Looking for advice. Thanks in advance! :D

I would call your local electric shop to see what they say . My local shop services anything with an electric motor

I'd check with the Manf. (http://www.milwaukeeconnect.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product3_27_40027_-1_284432_281131_189330_362) and see what their parts prices are. Heck, contact them and let them know one of their products is boken and see if they'll pick up the slack on parts/replacement.

If the manf is pretty outrageous for replacement parts, go to your local place and see what you can find.

Very cheap to work on man. Go to your local home depot or lowes and find the same one. Buy it, take it home and take the internal parts you need.

Take it back for a refund because it doesn't work and your done:D
