This stuff is pretty deep. I am planning on cleaning it up as good as I can and running it.

Oh man I think you are going to have to throw those away(gross use of sarcasm), I would say wire brush until the orange is grey and run them for the next 10years unless you let a little surface rust accumulate again. The important part is to get all the rust out of the housing so the oil doesnt carry it to the bearings and chunks of rust grind into the bearings. The ring gear is not effected by that little of rust, and it is bathing in oil constantly.

I agree, clean it up and run it. It'll grenade long before it wears out.
