i dont want to pay the rediculous price an exhaust shop wants. besides its not gonna be emissions legal so most wont do it anyway. so i was thinking of bending my own. would a harbor freight pipe bender work or a jd2? i heard if the pipe kings yah can fill it with sand to prevent it. i guess i could also use prebent pieces from and auto parts store or even that bendy stuff if i have to (i dont really like this stuff). any ideas, comments or suggestions?

Take some of the bendy stuff or if you are an electrician like me use emt anyway prebend it all then keep it that way and take it to a muffler shop and have them bend up some aluminumized 2.5 for you and weld it together yourself with your own mufflers.

im gonna use 2 inch cause the conversion headers have 2 inch off the flanges. sadly there is only 1 place within 45 minutes that bends exhaust and there a rip

For a custom y pipe for a 4.3, flanged to the stock cat, flanged to a new muffler, and then to tailpipe, with 3 O2 sensors cost me all of $320. And his work rocks.

In short, ya gotta find the right place.

You can buy prbent 180 degree tubeing from either Jeggs or Summit, then buy just the tubeing from an exhaust shop and build you're own ie. cut and rotate the 180's to fit you're application, I do this all the time and it works great.

However, If you suck at welding or lack the patience to fit it correctly I suggest you pony up the dough and pay a professional

yea you can bend it, you gotta use the fairly thick stuff (I forget how thick, step under .120)

I made my own Y-pipe with a bunch of premade 90's and 45's. Worked out really nice.

The exhaust shops around here wouldn't even consider working on my bronco.....I even asked one if they would bend some pieces for me, and they pretty much told me to fawk off.

i know its kinda cheasy but what do you think of this. its t304 stainless and will not rust even used in salt water. the best part is it will make a hell of a bendy exhaust easy to do. it is .010 to 2.5 inches and .018 for 3 inch. and comes in 5, 10, and 25 foot lengths.

I used the prebent stuff from Autozone when I did mine. That and some straight tube from there. It doesn't look professional since it's not mandrel bent, but it does the job just fine and was cheap. Just turn the heat down on the welder and don't let it burn through while making your pass.

get some pieces and cut'n'weld ... you can put together a decent exhaust system for around $100 if you buy the right pieces.
