Just wondering if there are places online to buy a decent torch kit for as little money as possible? If there is not I will just buy the medium grade kit from my local supply shop for $250.

I noticed these victor kits on ebay for $50-$80. Anyone have any experience with these? Worth the money?

Input Appreciated.

Dont get a cheap torch... Go for a used Good one.

Torches are the most dangerous "rig" in the whole shop.... think about it. Your holding, in your hand, a device that mixes and burns a highly volitile (sp?) gas. Get a REAL victor torch and keep it for the rest of your life. Torches are one thing Id definetly stay away from HF and such for. Go for a big name brand, because you shouldnt chance it with these. Get some good flashback arresters too. Just today I was using a harris setup that was probably older than me

X2, can be had for about $170 shipped depending on what kit you get. Bought my cylinders on ebay also, beat my local shop by $80 for the pair.

I talked to my local shop, they want to sell me a smith medium duty setup with lifetime warrany for 289.99. He said Victor have poor quality control, not as good.

Comments?

I can't comment on the Smith(it looks good for what I have seen), but I have had little problems with the Victor torches I have had the students use in class. They use them daily on average 4 hours/day, Monday through Friday, and have had no problems.

The new ones may be different, but every victor I've seen/used has been around for a long time.

Thanks for the comments guys.

So I might as well buy this one since I want a rosebud.

I picked up the sub-$150 torch kit from the local TSC, I think "Firestorm" or some other brand. basically, it sucks. It gets the job done, but evertying is "small" scale (someone mentioned this above) and the parts are overall cheaply made and fitted.

Seriously - spend a little more for at least a *decent* name brand setup, I wish I had.

I bought this one.

Bought in March and got 10% off from ebay. With the added shipping it is still cheaper then the previous link posted plus you get a storage box w/ rosebud.
