Not a very good pic because of the shrub in my way but this thing has some combination lift block/traction bars about a 1' long.

Gotta love those cut in half springs for lift, BTW they are connected to shackles in the rear.

Hayraker 04-13-2002, 12:02 PM Reminds me of the one in that SUV commercial (can't remember what make), one guy was in his little suv and the other had a 60 passenger school bus on 44's, he had his chest all bowed out and said "Yep, biggest SUV on the market" other guy: "does it come in any other color" reply: "nope"

wheelinjp 04-13-2002, 03:31 PM What a wheelin machine. All I know is my kids would love to ride to school on that bus, even if they had to wear a hockey helmet.

You should move to Catilina Island, the kiddies there go to school on this 4x4 van/bus

Isnt that a 2.5Ton axle out of an old kaiser 6x6. It looks just like the ones in my buddies 6x6, and the 20 spares that one of the counties around here gave him. I think they were made by saginaw or something like that. When I called boyce equipment he told me that all he would want were the chunks and the shafts, that I could keep the rest of the parts.

Looks to me like it might have push/pull steering(red circle) and the tie rod is behind the axle(yellow box). I might be wrong but it kinda looks that way to me.
Sully 02-10-2003, 07:35 AM Everyone knows real skool-buses were made by International, not Ford! :flipoff2:
That thing is pretty cool looking, till you take a look at that suspension!

muttly 02-19-2003, 07:03 PM yea that's Michigan off roads short bus. You should see it at silver lake sand dunes, full of 15 screaming kids scooting up big dunes. Runs good, front end isn't as bad as the pics look.
Oil burnin' 02-19-2003, 07:16 PM The tie rod is behind the axle where it is protected like most old military trucks. The axles are out of a M series post war GMC duece. The axles are very similar to WW2 GMC duece and halfs.
Dead Sled 02-19-2003, 08:42 PM sweet ride, would be better if it was IH and didn't have the rednecked lift
