Looking to buy myself a powdercoating gun, anyone here with any comments or suggestions? I've been looking at the Hotcoat from Eastwood, and The new self contained one from Craftsman. Anything better out there?

Also I think I am going to build my own oven, using two (or 3) heating elements from a kitchen oven with a thermostat from a kitchen oven wired through a HD octal relay to control it, I figure I could make one 2'x3'x5-6' so most items from a Heep would fit, up to and including axle housings. Anyone ever do this?

anyone know why the search function icon does not show up on my computer?

Have to have a star to search.

From looking at them, I've been leaning towards getting the Eastwood model. I haven't been too impressed with the Craftsman. What will you make the "oven" out of?

A buddy of mine did just that. He does custom motorcycle fab and uses a HF powercoat gun, and Eastwood powder. He uses and old kitchen oven ($50) in his garage. He was in the process of building a larger oven using heating elements and thermostat from thriftstore, so he could do larger objects. Don't use your regular kitchen oven, baking the powdercoat releases some bad stuff you don't want to eat. You can't search unless you have a red star. Hint: use google to search PBB ;)

I plan on making a frame out of 2x2x3/16 angle and sheeting it with stainless (I have a source for free stainless sheet up to 14 Ga) and wrapping it with some DEI insulation, an air gap, than another skin of stainless. I am going to make a rack that just fits into the oven that is removeable as a rack to wire the parts up to, powder, than slide right into the waiting oven.
