When building one's own rear bumper when purchasing the latch what holding capacity should one look for? Choices are; 360, 700 2,000 for the same latch in different sizes. Only thing that worries me is seeing my spare in the rear view skipping down the LA freeway...:eek:

I just ordered latches for my tire rack. I'm using two 2000 lb ones

That's funny, that is the same latch. www.reidtool.com These guys have all sorts of bizarre clamps etc.

I used the stock Landcruiser latches on my rack. If I was using aftermarket latches, I would go BIG. Nice pic Old Scout.
I'm pulling a rear tail gate latch from an early 80's toyota PU. Looks like it'll work fine and only cost $6.00.
