hey guys i need sum help. i blew my 5.7 up in my truck a while back i ordered a custome built efi 383 from a guy. well after i got the 383 i looked at the timing cover and it was the old style cover 12 bolts aluminum no crank sensor hole. we assum the crank dont have a reluctor wheel on it either but it has gm vortec heads and it dont have a roller cam anymore but has the previsions for one. anyways my mecanic said the motor wouldnt fire in my truck cuz no crank sensor the builder swears it will work and wont refund money or build it correct or anything. we were going to take him to court for it but i have kept researching to find out if i can use this motor still. i went to the dealership today and bout a vortec timing cover (8bolts plastic) and brought it back to the shop the 8 bolts match 8 of the 12 on the block we assum we can get it to seal since they match up. but we arnt sure on the reluctor wheel now and how it goes on or how we get it to fit. neither me or my mecanic have ever had a cover off a vortec motor b4 and we dont kno how the reluctor wheel goes in or on. can i take the reluctor wheel out of the blown 5.7 vortec and put it on the 400 crank? if so where does it go exactly? how does it go on? any help will b great. dop u think the cover will work also and will i b able to get it to seal with help of silicone sealant? oh done worry i got a tune for this motor and cam.
