: Reverse Rotation Waggy D44?
John Deere Ranger 04-13-2002, 08:53 AM I got a buddy trying to do this:
He is going to take the D44 flip it over so it will be a HP then he wants to take the Gears from a HP D44 front axle and put them in the Waggy axle..... Bascily a Homemade Reverse Rotation Rear D44. Now I said the Pinion Strenth is nowhere near enough.... He's gonna fab up some disc Brakes and so the brakes arn't an issue.... Dose anybody think this will work...... He says he will drill out the Oil Galeries and then weld in a plate some where to throw lube up on the pinion. He says
"I've never heard of R&P brakeing..... i've only heard of stock R&P breaking and thats because they weren't set up right to start with."
He also belives that aftermarket R&P just don't break....
Back to the orginal question.... do you think its possible to flip a standard Rotation D44 axle OVER and then put RC gears in it and make Reverse Rotation Rear D44?
Eric Ruhl 04-13-2002, 09:04 AM Flip it if you want to drive backwards (or move the engine to the rear), buy RC gears for it if you want to waste money and be embarrassed when they don't fit.
Don't let your friend work on any of your stuff.
Lance 04-13-2002, 09:08 AM What Eric said. ;)
John Deere Ranger 04-13-2002, 09:08 AM Don't worry he ain't touchin my stuff..... he's gonna be a doctor.... amazin huh????????? but he figures with reverse rotation gears and fliped it will drive forward......
don't say anything......................then laugh your ass of when he trys to drive it :D
John Deere Ranger 04-13-2002, 09:16 AM well i've already said something but..... welll my opinion ain't worth nothin

ROCK HUGGER 04-13-2002, 12:58 PM MAJOR FAWKING IDIOT!!!!!!!!!
You better not let him work on your rig, or on your family when he becomes a doctor.
Some people scare me:eek:
He better run one in the front to, so he can have 1 forward
gear and 4 (or whatever) reverse gears:eek:
I have another idea, maybe he could change cams in his motor to make it run backwards to:eek:
Did I say IDIOT:flipoff2:
Gozuki 04-13-2002, 01:03 PM Newbies are always good for a laugh :D :wiping tears from eyes:
Nobody 04-13-2002, 04:13 PM Last time I checked, having a high pinion wasn't quite that critical
GearMan 04-13-2002, 05:15 PM if you were any kind of friend at all you would be telling him to use 60s instead. they are stronger and worth more money:D :flipoff2:
John Deere Ranger 04-14-2002, 07:57 AM He's a BABY when it comes to Gassin it.... so D44 are plenty for his 33's right now and 35's in the future..... put it this way the only thing he's ever broke is a front driveshaft.... ohhh... and he made that....

^ Can't stress this enough ^
That might be the single dumbest thing I have heard on this board yet, and I have heard some dumb crap. Most of it was just dangerous, not just plain wrong like this. Come on DR33, you should know the outcome of this mod, if he could ever get it to work. I would hope anyone on this board would know what happens if you try to flip a Dana upside down...
And aftermarket R&Ps not breaking? My buddy just broke his 4.88s the other day on the street with his 22RE. Aftermarket gears break more often then stock stuff, that I am sure of.

Single dumbest? I've heard this plan several times. What really kills me is usually at least five guys point out that they will burn up the pinion bearings. Hello!! Anyone home McFly?? THE AXLE WILL GO BACKWARDS IF YOU DO THAT AND NO, REVERSE CUT GEARS WON'T FIX IT!! Pinion bearing life is the least of your problems. Sheesh!

Wow, that is amazing. At least it seems this time around everyone has a very firm grasp of this concept. It still makes me laugh each time I think of this moron trying to do this. I would love to see no one tell him the obvious "it'll go backwards" and then see him try to run it....
John Deere Ranger 04-14-2002, 02:14 PM ohh well i'll try to have the video recorder handy when he goes to install it ..... I can't wait....... this is gonna be good.... . thanx for all the input..... I hope Reverse roattion gears fit... so it will go backward.........

OH, it will go VERY backwards! That is unless he is somehow able to mount the ring gear on the other side of the pinion. That would take a lot of clearancing in the housing. Sure would be interesting to see though!

We won't get the chance to witness this spectacle unless he keeps the standard rotation gears. Reverse spiral cut gears can't even be installed in a standard housing; the ring gear is on the wrong side of the pinion. :D :smokin:
If we want a good laugh, we point out that reverse cut gears would be running on the weak side in a standard housing (if you could install them) flipped upside down, so he should stick with the standard gears. LOL...fawkin' newbies. Thanks for the laugh, dangerranger.

He said "It ain't gonna be no weaker runnin them on the back side... its like goin in reverse.... it ain't gonna make no differarace.... he's :smokin: :smokin: :smokin: :smokin: then :nuke: :nuke:
clc900 04-14-2002, 06:47 PM Danger you have been on here for less than a month and have somehow padded your status with the dumbest fawkin questions I have ever heard. Do all of your "friends" know that you make fun of them behind there backs? Or was this concoction just another one of your fawked up ideas. PLEASE do us all a favor and go find another board to post your shiat on. If not just keep your mouth shut and try to learn a few things first. Or better yet, get off the damn computer and go WHEEL! This is just getting down right riduculous!

Those that don't know what he is talking about look at some of the :rainbow: threads he has started on the Ford board.....And if I had to bet I would have to say based on the fact you have been asking several questions about a REAR reverse 44 this is just yet another of your  questions:flipoff:

NO.... I can't claim this one.... sorry...... If you look at what i'm buildin I ain't got no need for Waggy axles... I don't think you gain anything.... from them.... PERSONALLY... I HATE JEEPS... therefore NO JEEP PARTS on my FORD... (no offence to any jeepers) but i'm goin D44/9" with NP435 and NP205 with 39" Yea my axles strenth is probably a little weak but the 9" is 31 spline it should hold up... got spare shafts all the way around.... Yea... I may post stupid questions but what these stupid professors keep pounding in my head...."the only stupid question is a question not asked" or somethin like that the proffessors need to take a break and :smokin: but that's just my opinion... blame the rain for my posts we ain't had no good weather for me to work on my shit..... so.... Just my $.02................ If i thought of this Idea.... I would NEVER stick my head on this post again... but fortunatnly i didn't think of this Idea....

How about:
"There are no stupid questions, only stupid people"
You know the class is going to be interesting when your professor says that.

John Deere Ranger 04-15-2002, 07:16 AM I'll agree D44/9" ain't Hardcore... but ain't got the $$ for 60's so.. run with what you got..
