I have a bad assified toyota.... Just got a 70 k5 for a tow rig.... It has no motor... a t350(bad?) and a t-case:D I dunno witch one I have. It looks just like the one in these pictures (http://home.earthlink.net/~ekronsprint/Trail_Rig/Tcase.htm) It has a flanged rear output, not a yoke.
The truck will run maybee 35's and rairly even be put into 4wd (sad eh) it's gonna be a tow rig.
the case leaks out the front output shaft. How hard is that to seal back up? ITS NASTY BAD!! The J-yard I went to yesterday has a couple 205's sitting there...I saw the ID tag. I already have to get a motor and tranz... how hard is it to throw in the 205? Do I really care?

What you have is a 203 if it's the same as that picture. It didn't come stock in that truck. 203 didn't come to GM till 73. 203 is pretty stout despite the bad rep they got from people not taking care of them properly after install a part time kit. Finding a 205 with a TH350 adaptor is not easy. Most came in 71-72 and 80. 80's had slip yoke.

I would go with the 203 for now, then when you decide to wheel it you already have the basis for a Doubler (http://www.alaskaoffroad.com/tech_2.htm) :p

Sealing the case is easy.

LOL Sorry man I was lurking around and needed a pic.
Is the 203 a full time deal? I don't like that...No real fuel economy.
Where do I get a part time kit from? I know that the J-yard had a couple 205's cuz of the tag but where do you get the adapter? He has quite a few chevs in the 78-85ish range there....

DONT USE THE 203!mad3: And shame on all of you that told him to do it. I maid the same mistake twice in my old 77 3/4 ton Chevy and broke them both, can you believe that, two! and only with only 35's! The problem is the chain drive is much weaker than than its gear driven brother the 205 even if their rated the same. And that’s what broke in both of my old units. And I think my current 205 shifts twice as easy. But really folks there is just no excuse to run a 203 when you could just pick up a 205 for 50-100 bucks at your local junk yard:usa:

they said it's a PITA to find the 205 adapter though...is this true? Or can I just get one off say a 85 3/4ton 4wd?

If you can find TH-350 version 205s with the adapters for $50-$100, sign me up for a dozen. Yes, the SM-465 version 205s are easy to come by and not too pricey, but that won't do him any good without swapping the input shaft and getting a different adapter.

If you have a 203 and its in good shape, I'd just run it (after putting a part time kit in it if it doesn't already have one). You will save the expense of buying a new case, adapter, driveshafts, etc.

Another identification thing: 205s have a small round cover plate with 3 holes in it where the fill plug is on those pictures. They also have shifter rods that you push/pull coming out of the case.

If you do decide to go the 205 route, my brother has one for sale, it has the correct input (its hooked to a TH-350 currently), but the adapter is cracked.

I ran mine behind a 500 Cid caddy for several years with out any problems. I never did any rockcrawling though. For Street/Towing it should be fine. I would repace the chain though.

One thing I forgot, I'm sure you've already been told this, but Blazers aren't the best tow rigs around.
