My dad picked up 3 air ratchets at a yard sale last weekend for me:

3/8" BluePoint
3/8" CP
1/4" BluePoint

All 3 of them seem to be missing the valve assembly that screws into the handle.
Is this valve something relatively cheap to pick up and get these going again? Does the SnapOn guy handle the BluePoint line?

I'm into 'em for $1 each so far, so spending a couple of bucks on the vavles won't make me cry I guess ;)

Snap-on handles the blue point stuff. Often the cost of repair when they send them out is not worth it unles syou have a newer top of the line tool.

It looks like they just unscrewed the valve assembly - so I would *hope* the only labor would be mine... turn-turn-turn-snug :p

Get the part number on the CP and look up a parts diagram... call up CP and ask about where u can get the parts.

valve what valve?

My thoughts too... Only screw in item I see on the handle is the quick connect...

All 3 of these have the valve assembly that screws in on the opposite side of the handle body from the actuator lever. The valve has a plunger that protrudes through the body, and sticks out under the actuator - so when you press the lever, it pushes on the plunger and thereby opens the air valve.

You can see a "bump" on this one (just grabbed off the web) opposite of the actuator lever to see where I am talking about:

and a few more:

This one shows it well - the black dot on the green handle is where the valve screws into the tool body:

This is the plunger valve that turns the air on/off for the tool :p

Ahhh...

Blue Points I'd take to the local SnapOn truck to see what he says. I called the number on the webpage and they gave me a number for the local guy. He is always willing to stop down the street from my office at a McDonalds whenever I need something.

David,

Did you check the Snap-on web site for parts, assuming that you have a part number for the Blue Points. My son broke his 1/4" Snap-on air ratchet and the Snap-on man wanted $50-$60 to fix it. We found the part on the web site for $18 and fixed it ourselves.
