: sheet metal trimming suggestions for front

I really hated my 2" body lift that I had on the truck so I ditched it when I rebulit the truck with the 36x12.50 swampers. I moved the tires as far forward as I could when I extended the frame but I still have some rub on full turns at the lower front edge of the body. It all looked fine and I thought I had proper clearances, until I twisted the suspension just right.

I now have to cut the sheetmetal to do it and was wondering if anyone has any pics of how they did this. I want to cut away the offending metal and weld in a panel properly and not just leave a mud/water collecting mess.

I figure I need to trim about 1", fix the sheetmetal and then put back on my 1/4 angle iron rocker panel guards and trim them down too.

Anybody got any decent pics?? I have a tube front end so I don't have to worry about other rubbiing.

I was only able to find a single reference to what I am trying to do. Taken from azrockcrawler.com website.

I cut mine off with a sawsall. Use a piece of 14 gauge for a patch piece and welded in.

I had a thread on here from about a year ago, but I can't find it. Here's a couple pics of the sam I did last year.

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.

This gives me a better idea of how to tackle the problem.

I'm almost afraid to cut into it and see what type of crud is in the rocker panel.. mud, silt, rust.. and whatever else.

Its too small for a place to Hide Jimmy Hoffa so I guess it may be safe. :D

Take a look at:

Look under New Cage Boggie style
There is quite a few pictures, but I did some trimin on the rockers and built new ones. The only thing I have not done yet is the front of the front fenders. Once the house and garage are done that is next.

Heres how I did mine. No body lift, axles are pretty much in the stock position and I clear stuffed 35s.

While you're cutting there, cut out your rockers too.

You either boat side it, of put in 4x3 rectangular tubing like I did.
If I was doing it again, I'd boat side it, but I also like what I did.
