my friend has an 89' bronco with the TTB or whatever and wants a solid axle, now we want to make it flex, so did some measurements and came up with the idea of using those 63" Chevy springs...my question is, we need to re-drill the springs to offset like 7" inches from middle...is that going to be a problem? what other problems will i have with long front springs???

thanks

I would think your front end would be to heavy for those springs without adding some leaves...

I used those springs under the front of my 82 chev, should be of similar weight I would think. they work great but if you are driving it on the street you will need a swaybar, I pulled mine and now I want to put it back in cause the body roll is incredible. so is the flex, I run 13.5 inch ranchos in the stock mounting location and the springs max them out both ways.
why would you need to offset the holes? I built myself a short frame extension to handle the extra length out front, moved the diff forwards 2 inches at the same time for tire clearance (still had to clearance the firewall for the 44's) drilling the springs may be a problem, mine already kink at the ends of the second leaf down from flexing, moving the weight back may aggravate that problem.
other problems are pretty much the common ones with long travel suspension setups, lots of clearance issues.

a simple bolt on coil deal of a 78-9 bronc or early F150? Everybody and their brother has done it, and by wristing a radius arm, you can get a lot of flex....

Seams a LOT simpler than a leaf spring setup.

but why be like everybody and there brother...leaf springs are tried and true...as for coils...with out those extended arms that cost a furtune you get about the same flex as the TTB does...the other thing is, he has 6"s of lift and we would need the 6" coils from the 78-79 lift and then we would have to mess with the stupid radius arms...well i don't know..just tring to come up with something that is irregular and different from the herd...

You will break the springs at the old center pin hole.
