High pressure fuel pump (47-55 psi)/crankshaft position sensor-(solution)/all the emmission stuff ,data port, check engine light(if you need to smog). You will have to decide if you want OBDI or OBDII. OBDI would most likely be the easiest in your case.

sounds kinda expensive dang 47 psi for fuel pump the electric one i bought for my luv was like 2 psi or so

about the crankshaft positioner does that mean i need to switch the oil pan

do i need to switch flywheel some guy said that i would need to Hmm?

i take it you have done the conversion eh

well thanks

you can get the fuel injection parts and ecm from bone yard, then hesco makes a wiring harness and front mount cps kit and dampner, plus all the other needed parts. only one problem, hesco is very very proud of their parts so look to spend some $$$$

im stuck dead in the water on the same type of
project right now, ive swapped in a 4.0 ho and
have everything from a donor vehicle but can't find
any info about wiring which wires where to get it running.
seems no body has specific info because every year is
differant.

4.0 runs on a high pressure fuel system and will not start without enough pressure. Do your home work regarding OBDI/OBDII and decide which is for you. Do obtain the factory service manual for the year of your ECM/PDC?and under hood harness. The pinout scetion will lower your blood pressure and pulse rate by a minimum of 15 points. I scored and did the whole engine conversion for $1000. Did trans and other stuff at the same time which cost additional $. You can get around the above named supplyer by doing your homework. Sugested reading would be CJoffroad.com---the 4.0 forum.

i have a a couple hundred wiring diagrams from a 93 obd-2 if you might need wiring or computer pin outs,, i think from 93 to 95 everything is pretty close to the same except for differant transmissions and some optional stuff. if you get into a swap and need wiring diagrams, let me know.

I'm wondering if putting a 4.0 head on a 4.2 engine is smog legal in the first place. Probably not a problem getting it smogged if the inspector doesn't know the head's been changed, unless the package you installed has been certified as "52 State" leagl. But you put fuel injection on your 4.2, and any smog inspector worth his/her salt will know it. Around here, that would mean no smog cert. The alternative would be to claim you've installed a 4.0 engine in place of your 4.2. In that case, you can configure your "4.0" to any number of years (as long as the year of configuration is the same or newer than the year of your Jeep). You would install all smog related goodies, not just sensors because, if your in Calif, as an example, you'll have to have your new conversion inspected by a state smog ref, not your local smog inspector. The smog ref will look at everything, maybe even the trans you have. A stickler ref (mine was!), will require that the engine & trans was a combo offered by the engine mfg; IE: Jeep. Engines after '95 are OBDII. Many more sensors and wiring to worry about.

Bubba Jeep's got it. The factory FI conversion is more like $2400 plus labor and then you end up with a FI 135HP engine which will in fact run better than the carb model. I chose the whole engine and am glad after the fact. 190+HP, very driveable. better mileage (I'm about 22-24 on the highway with NV4500, 4.11's and 33's), and the coolness factor that I did it and it works. Unless you have a cherry or turned up 258 I would say go with the 4.0. OBDI is easier but either way--do your homework and it's not that tough. Heck mine dropped right on the motor mounts and ran the same radiator hoses..I did run the big fan and shroud off the 258 and have had narry an overheating issue to date and we get our share of 100 plus days here.
