what transmission is this

i have a 1989 wrangler yj with a automatic column shifter is it the peugeot cause i think they made only 5 speed manuals so im confused ?

hmm never heard of it i wonder if it is an ok transmission
cause i was lookin at a article in my magazine all this time i thought i had a peugot then i read 5 spd i was like nope thats not what i have i was stumped well thanks

i forget what transfer case was on i think it was a np231 i ll have to check

They put the 999 in everything from 1980 on up with an occasional 904 thrown in. Its was the standard jeep auto tranny used. Peugot only made that crappy BA10/5 manual tranny for jeep aplications from 87 to 89. Be thankfull you dont have one.

your correct: the xfercase is a 231.
