I am switching to a V8 plant, and have many parts for sale from the original 1974 F motor. The motor was rebuilt less then 7K miles ago, and just spun the #2 and #3 bearings. The pistons are new, it has been bored, honed, new rings, oversize pistons, new clutch etc. Head was surfaced, valves replaced, new cam, reground lifters. This a very tight motor. To rebuild, it would take a crank, two rods, and a bearing kit, all of the other work has been done. The complete long block, for $800 OBO. I also have the following parts that were installed last year. 38 MM Webber carb w/ K&N filter and pre-wrap, $250. HEI distributer w/ plugs and wires, $250. New power steering pump bracket for F/2F motor, less than 2 weeks old, $80. Used (a little dented) Specter 6 into 2 headers with brand new 2.5" single pipe exhaust and Magnaflow welded muffler, $250. Another set of tunes 6 into 2 headers, $25. Radiator with small leak at top tank, $10. Several alternators, a smog pump, original '74 distributer and extra caps, etc... make offer. I need to get rid of this extra stuff, so email now. I live in Northern California (Weed), but will be in Sacramento the end of April if you are close and would like to see any of the items. I don't think anyone minds as long as you're not charging too much, and 800 bucks for an F motor that needs a rebuild ( or a crank in your case) is way too much.

Another clear case of the dreaded:

*Spectercatalogitis", a fairly common disorder which causes people to base the price of whatever Land Cruiser parts they have lying around on what they see on the Specter price list, regardless of what the real market value of the part is.

It doesn't bother me that Cruiser stuff gets posted here. In fact, I *prefer* it. But asking $800 for a dead F engine isn't a joke, it's borderline insulting. You could get the same item ANYWHERE in the US for $50-$75, TOPS.

To continue the trend, I have a 1991 non-US FJ62 with a carburated 3F, a factory H55F, a Mudrak SO, ARB Air Locker and a host of other goodies, including an expedition trailer and an almost-priceless, *transferable* FEDERAL EMMISSIONS EXEMPTION, for $25,000 FIRM. I'll even drive it anywhere in the lower 48 and you can even keep the CD's that are in it.

Obviously I made a mistake by listing anything on your piss ant forum. By the way ass holes, if any of you wanted a block that was fairly freshly machined, etc... what you pay? Also, what is a cam worth, also what is a clutch worth? I have all of these things make a fucking offer!!! By the way, I wouldn't sell any of this shit to any of you mother fucking wannabe 4X4ers anyway. Do you even know what a dirt road looks like? I like in a area where there are more dirt roads than pavement! Fuck all of you, and the next time you want to rebuild your F motor, I would be happy to piss all over your $2K bill for the rebuild including all of the shit that my overpriced hunk of shit includes. Please feel free to send me all of your no-dollar hunk of shit rebuild stories so I can feel screwed since I paid a ton more than any of you (quoting $75 for a block, clutch, pistons, rings, head, valves, cam, etc...) for my rebuild. Mr. Lava, I let that thread (the first one) continue only because I wanted to give you a chance to mellow out, but you're attitude is only getting worse, and I'm getting annoyed with it, and annoyed with some of the other comments as well.

Here's the deal, if you've lurked around here long enough then you should have a prety good feel for how people respond to questions and statments, therefore by posting a wasted F motor for $800 you should have expected to get some honest feedback about it. Yes, thats called true honesty! You don't have to agree with it, but at least you now know what people think about F motors and what they're worth.

I'm sorry that you put all that money into it, but the fact is that your gonna take a loss on it.... Bottom line.

As for the Weber, that you should be able to sell for what you ask.

Your attitude prety much sucks, there are alot of very knowledgable people on this board that just give info like it should be, straight.

Your not the first person to join the forum in a blaze of glory and then turn out to be a well liked and respected member once getting adjusted to the things work around here, so chill out and always be prepared for honesty and no bull advice and tech info.

:flipoff2: is a welcome that all newbies get....and the Cruiser board here is by far the most welcoming and tolerable of those on the PBB. I strongly suggest a retraction of your hostility and that in the future you remember that there are a VERY few on the Cruiser portion of the PBB that deserve such a tirade.

IMO, there is always someone out there willing to pay much more than any part is realistically worth. (Perfect example: ebay) As someone who has a 1974 F-motor laying around, I understand your pain. From what I understand, the 74 F head is swappable to the later 2F blocks, since the 74 F head contains all the important threaded holes and has a smaller combustion chamber, netting someone a quick performance upgrade for a 2F motor. Some creative sales work, and selling the costs you have invested in the head itself, may net you a sale.

I get $25 for the information on the F-head crossover...heh heh

I'm in California (Bay Area) and picked up a F motor in running condition with less than 75,000 original miles for only $100! a new Cruiser friend put in a V8 and wanted to recoupe a bit of the costs. That is the only way I found to keep the F motor that is affordable.
