I have a t150 and dana 20 combo right now. I also have a tf999 and dana 300 not in. Don't really want the t150. what standard will bolt right in. With a 304 to dana 300. I know the t176 will, but what else. Just read the nv3550 will

Jeep CJ T-18, if you reuse your D20.

I'd never heard of the 3550 working as such. Interesting if true.

If you get the appropriate bellhousing, you could also use an SR4, T4, or T5... though why you'd want to, I don't know.

Any reason you're not too fancy on the 999?

The nv3550 will bolt to the dana 300 he has.

I prefer the 999, myself, but wouldn't mind the overdrive the nv3550 offers.

I just like a standard. I like the engine brake.

Yeah the nv3550 will bolt right up to the 304 and the dana 300 will bolt up to the nv3550 also, they have the same spline count, I have this setup in my 78 CJ-7

use a clocking ring for the dana 300 because it hangs real low in the stock configuration on the back of the nv3550, afterall the dana 300 was not made for the nv3550, but it will bolt right up

you need a clutch setup from a 2000-2004 TJ
clutch disk
pressure plate
throwout bearing
and hydraulic clutch setup
pilot bearing from advance adapters

You will also need the rear driveshaft cut down and the front driveshaft lengthened

let me know if you have anymore questions about this swap, I did it 7 months ago and I love it

i would just go with the t-176. Fairly strong, bolts right up, and it is a 4 speed. Nice tranny IMO.

Jeep CJ T-18, if you reuse your D20.

If you can find a 1980 Scout Dana 300 aka Texas bolt pattern (rare) it will bolt up. I've seen them go for $400 to $800 on E-bay.
I guess the real question is how much to spend and how do you use your Jeep. The T-176 might be the best way to go to avoid adapters & dollars.
Also there is nothing wrong with a Dana 20 (strong, cheap, low kits available).
good luck
