I'm swapping a pair of 1988 Grand Wagoneer Dana 44's into my yj. The Front axle is giving me some problems though. The driver side spring perch was originally sua and intigrated into the cast iron of the diff. housing. Now that I welded on a spring perch on top I'm having some trouble with dealing with the u bolts having to go around the diff. housing. It's a lot to explain but I'm sure for those of you who have already done this type of swap know what I'm talking about.
So does anybody know of a link where I could find out how this is done? Or can any of you tell me what you did with your set up?

Get out your grinder and make a channel for them to fit in the cast!

Get your grinder out, put down the mouse and stop posting dumb questions.
I looked at my Waggy 44 and it took me all of 30 seconds looking at my Wagoneer axle to figure out what needed to be done.
Grind a small channel in the lower piece so the u-bolt fits. It was extremely easy to do.

Read all this and follow all the links that are in it - you'll get an idea of what you need to do. I'm about to do the same thing within a week or two.

The YJ perch locations are 1/2" wider than the waggy. The pictures make it seem like they welded the new perches above the waggy locations. The outer edge of my driver side perch actually welds to the axle tube and the inner to the cast section.
Like they said, grind a channel so the u-bolts can sit flush. You can also use a large diameter u-bolt if you are willing to make a new u-bolt plate (that is what I didnt so I didnt need to grind too much off)

They (somebody) make offset perches for that, but with a little imagination, you can look at that perch and see how you could cut the one side off and move it over to make it work.
For me, anyway, this is the fun of working on the rig. Everything doesn't just bolt awn, you gotta use some noggin and figger things out. Think outside the Quadratec box.

I made my own driver side perch by taking a standard MOPAR perch, traced out the larger diameter of the cast sleeve for the diff and then using a side grinder opened up the one end. Just make sure whoever welds it on knows what they are doing and uses a nickle rod and it works like "butta".

MORE (http://mountainoffroad.com) makes offset perches for both the Dana 30 and the Dana 44, which are slick and work great. But you still have to grind a channel for your U-bolt.

Wrong. They're narrower. YJ perches are 30.5" center to center, wagoneers are 31.5". You need to move the perch in 1/2" on each side.
