I am hoping to stir up support for some more f-toy events. The 06 schedule is really set up for people living in the southern end of the west coast. I realize this is because the peolpe who have put in the work to get this thing going live in that area, thank you guys. I am wondering if there are people who would build rigs and compete if there were events or possibly even whole series in other areas. I am in the westen CO area and interested in putting together a "Rocky Mtn F-Toy Series". The whole concept of F-toy is great because it can be done fairly cheap and emphisises driver skill more than driver pocketbook.:D Soooo... anybody want to play? Any vendors interested in helping out? If its a dumb idea just say so, but I would sure like to get something like this going. Imagine winning regional drivers from all over the country duking it out at a final event. I just see some potential here. :bounce2: :bounce:

The question is "Who will tow to an event outside of a 700 mile radius from LA????"

 true.
Actually out here in KS I have a couple buddies kickin' tires over the idea... Just can't run the comps since there aren't any out here so kinda defeats the purpose of building it to specs.

I feel the same way, thats why I started this thread. If we get a few guys to build we can run our own comps out here. Possibly with the blessing of the so-cal boys. We really want to work with you guys down there, its good for the sport (and the vendors), not trying to hijack your gig just want a way to participate. Im gonna build the F-toy chassis, staying within specs just depends on finding some other guys to run with out here. Kick it arround a little more, if I do one and you know a couple more guys its a pretty good start.

I hope no one will be towing 700 miles:D I was hoping that we could get something parallel to the program you guys have down there happening out here. Just an idea:dustin:

Colorado is closer to Ohio so count me in. There are a few chassis in the East that are in various states of completion. We can't expect the SoCal guys to organize for us out here so let's get something planned for next year.
Maybe start small and plan just one or 2 events.

Always good to have more local comps. To make promo easy, I would talk with the guy that hosts the Kremmling crawl every year. Also, check with the Ridge Runners I think in Colo springs. They handle Carnage Gulch in Buena Vista. And of course, Montrose.

Always thought at some piont there will be super crawl type event for Formula toys to crown a national champ.
If you build them the comps will come.

this would be cool if there was something in colorado. we have also been kicking around the idea of a colorado event if this would be possible? i know the f-toys follow urock? right? maybe a non urock event but still add to the points for the f-toy event? i know we could hold an event out at C.O.R.E (http://www.coloradooffroadextreme.com/)and set up a few courses. yes its a man made course but this would be good to support the local off road parks and not piss off the greeenys. just a thought. i would be down to try and make this happen if people were interested. might even get carol to add some new stuff also.
here is a link to some pictures the last time we went out there to play. plenty of stuff to break your shit on..lol http://www.homegrowninc.us/?c=trails&t=core021305
and let the sawzall play also, all my specs match the f-toy other then the the cage.

The whole concept of F-toy is great because it can be done fairly cheap and emphisises driver skill more than driver pocketbook. Soooo...
Problem:
I know a few guys here are kicking around the idea of building Ftoy's, but shipping cost seems to be an issue. Not to mention the fact that towing out to the comps makes the whole idea geographically and monetarily undesirable.
Solution:
Get an approved bender or distributor closer.
Have some comps in the area.
Drink more beer.
My .02 for what it's worth.

So it sounds pretty positive on here. I think that there might be enough intrest to start up annother F-toy region. So that raises the ? how Big of an area should regions encompass? I was looking at the atlas and it looks like the so cal boys have their events set up within about a 300-350 mi radius of Las Vegas NV. I was thinking of a similar radius set up arround Denver or Co Spgs. It would encompass eastern UT,WY,CO, northern NM, and the western parts of KS and NE. Any bigger and i think it would be too far to travel to the events, any smaller and we might not get enough people involved. I know that this area doesnt include some of the people who have expressed an intrest, we would love to have you, just dont want anyone that wants to run a full series to have to travel super far. There are alot of good events that already go on out here and has been previously suggested mabey we can tag on to these events and run an F-toy class. The other issue that has been brought up is chassis aproval. I think this one is up to the guys who started and curently run this class. What kind of criteria would you want for aproved chassis building?

To clarify some things:
We don't run UROC, they don't want us. I've posted on their board about this, and they're not interested.
The reason we run the schedule we do is to get the already built rigs into competition. 2 years ago, we had 2 rigs at each event, except for Donner with 6 rigs, most NorCal people. They wouldn't tow down for Beatty. I'd love to run a straight W.E. Rock, CalRoc, or ProRock series, it's just the majority can't afford to or won't take the time to tow that far.
There has been talk of hosting our own events, ask the Rich's how much insurance costs for the event.
The BOD thought about potential scheduling for a long time before comitting to this year's schedule. Right now the National/Regional choices are ProRock or W.E. Rock. The distance is what determined the events we would do, everything is within 1 long day towing from California, unless you're further north than Sacramento. If owners would commit to tow to W.E. Rock east and west series, we could have a true national sanctioning body, with a national champ.

Just to let you guys in on our plans for the future...
W.E.ROCK is involved with getting more and more regional series started all over the country. Like Carolina Crawlin, RROCK, VROC, etc. etc.
If anyone would like to start a regional series in there area, we would love to talk with you.
Next...
Our plans include a possible Central U.S. Series in 2007, to go alone with our current Eastern and Western U.S. Series'
We can do this in a number of different ways, some of which are: a complete different 4 events all located between the Rockies and the Big River, or having 3 events in the west and 3 events in the east, then having 2 events in the central area. The central guys would run their 2 events along with 1 east and 1 west event. The east and west guys would run their 3 events and 1 of the central events, so everyone would still run 4 events per season. Of course all classes would be invited to the Grand National Event, that floats across the country each year.

Noah -- If in Colorado or close by, I would seriously look into competing as well.. been wanting one, but not worth building to spec if I can't get to a comp.
Someone mentioned more comps in CO... I think the Kremmling deal is no longer due to some damage control and drinking IIRC... I could be wrong though.
Also, the rock racing guys run a couple of comps in CO, you have a place in Colorado Springs they run currently as well as the battle rock in Cortez as well. Also, look into CORE out east of Denver... the site is nice and could easily host an event or two as well.

I'd do whatever I could to get something started here.
