Have a TJ 99 with the AX15 manual tranny. Thinking of swap for a SM465 granny tranny.

Anyone done this ? If so do you like it ?

Swap idea is to put in SM465 to get 80 to 1 crawl ratio in 1st and later put a tera low 4 to 1 in my np231 tcase ( 120 to 1). Seems to be the most cost effective way to go.

Would like NV4500 and a STAK but to much money

Any thoughts appreciated

I did this swap in my '94 YJ. It won't be as cheap as you think by the time you buy adapters, modify driveshafts, etc.
The SM465 is bullet-proof and still easy to come by, I scored mine for $50.
It is an old truck tranny and shifts like one, nothing like the AX15.
I did the 4:1 in my t-case and loved the 120:1 crawl ratio!
