on the weekend only a few minutes form my house, i was showing my housemate how well the cruiser performs, and driving up quite a steep hill, and really feeding it, (there was no track and lots of grass so i couldnt crawl up cause all it does is slip) and we launched off a near vertical section, when it came back down, all i could hear was a grinding, until it jumped out of gear and we rolled (on our wheels) all the way to the base of the hill, quite scary, but i put it back into gear and then heard more noise and thought.....rear pinion, jumped and checked it...thats when i noticed the front diff was in a BAD state, i had snapped off another tailshaft, and when i grabbed the flange, at the pinion it had HEAPS of movement, i drove it home and parked it and have not even looked at it since, except to see that the front output seal is leaking oil, and the front pinion seal leaks too, the tailshaft parts are strung by electrical wire up to the chassis, so i can drive it....

NOT HAPPY JAN
the flange has some BIG movements, but i can't actually turn it a full turn, so i was wondering if it is just the bearing, or have i lunched another pinion? :( i have fine spline 4.11 gears, the centres are from the rear of FJ80's :( $$$

GRRRRR, ill pull it this weekend and check it out, but i was wondering if you guys think its a pinion or bearing?

for a front wrap bar im thinking, single bar off the top of the diff like the minitrucks and run it to the bottom of my bumper (forwards?) but only a small bar with shock absorber bushings, not big and beefy like my rear one ;)

what sthe thoughts on front wrap bars?

front wrap bars are fine, if your shackles are leading the axle i would run it back to the transfer, and if you are SR'd the run it forward. i wonder though, since you munched the pinion AND tailshaft could your driveline be too long and bottomed out?

nope, i was worried about that, but it had MILES of travel left at full compression.....
