Hi Guys
83 Z24 in a kingcab.
Started with a bad head gasket, replaced the head, then dropped the timing chain just enough to force me to pull the timing cover .
With the timing cover off I decded to replace the timing chain, gears & tensioner.
Last night I got the timing cover & water pump on, tonite I will pop the head and seccure the top cam gear then reinstall the distributor and oil pump.
With all that said, Here's my question about the distributor and oil pump:
I figure that I should probably install the distributor first, then the drive gear/shaft so that the distributor lines up with the marks I made when removing the distributor,
then install the oil pump?
Does that sound right or is there an easier way or different procedure to line up the distributor, shaft and oil pump?
Thanks in advance for any advice or tips.
Bill
