Actually, it's my G/F's '87 Samurai with a (some year) 1.6L conversion. Weber carb.

It ran great. Then we wheeled it. :D Now it idles rough about 1/2 the time - especially when it's warm - and it hesitates almost as bad as I do when trying to decide on rim backspacing. :D

...I've searched for 2 days, and here is what I think it is - input would be appreciated, though:

a) we may have loosened the carb; spraying carb cleaner near the choke area (I think :D) causes a rise in RPM; and / or

b) we loosened all the junk at the bottom of the tank on this truck's first 4x4 excursion in its life.

Am I on track? Gonna try to fix it this weekend.

You checked the usual? vacuum lines, crap in the fuel filter etc etc?

Does it seem to be running too rich or too lean when it's stumbling or hesitating?

Looked in the float bowl?

...This truck is a ...'blend' of things. Fuel filter is up near the engine. PCV valve is custom.

I'm tempted to just take it to the guy we bought it from - because he's a mechanic - and make him fix it. :D
