: Hypothetically speaking, what would happen if you mixed wheel bearings on repack...?

:shaking:

Hypothetically I had some one kick my wheel bearings across the garage floor while they were drying after I cleaned all the old grease out of them. :mad3: They were on a piece of newspaper marking which one was which just prior to that.

I think I got them the way they came out of the truck.

But in the event that I had a wheel bearing from the left side of the truck, now on the front is it going to grenade on me?

I know you are supposed to replaced them in pairs, one bearing one race.

These bearings are mint, I would hate to have to replace a four races and four bearings because of this. :(

Grease em up good and go for it. Many new rotors come with new races installed and we always throw the old bearings in there. No worries IMHO. Mark

Thanks. That was the plan but I wanted some one else to agree with me so I didn't feel so bad about it.

I repacked them with the mobil 1 syn grease so they should be nice and slick.

if you're going wheeling, the odds are it will be coming back apart more often than it would in a 'normal' service schedule, it will be fine. Just be sure that if you do have it apart to keep an eye on it. You'd want to do that even if you (or someone else) didn't mix them up.

i would just be ready to check them after the first trip, in case they seated into their new home a bit, but otherwise no problems.
