Im sorry that this is a totally NOOB question, but i gotta get this figured out soon....
Im doin a SAS on my toyota with a dana 44 up front and a lil something extra in the rear. But i am having issues as to what brake caliper i need to run on this dana 44.
When i got this axle it came out of a project truck that was being converted to 4wd and the dude gave up cause a tree fell on it. But he doesnt know what year axle it is and neither do i do the issue of no BOM numbers.

Theres a pic of the caliper mount. Does anyone know what caliper would fit that? I am runnin some 1977 K20 calipers on my dana 70 rear for my disk brake conversion. And it seems to be that they might work for the front, but i really just want to make sure everything is right and not half-ass'd if you know what i mean.

any disk caliper from 72-92 blazer truck burb. that is the backing plate for a 77k20 d44 so your rears and front will be the same pn#.
it has been said around here that the 10 bolt calipers are bigger bore and piston but i havent bothered to check on my own yet.

Good deal.
I was figuring that was the case. But i just wanted to double check to make sure before i go and start ordering my front calipers and brake lines and everything.
I appreciate it fellas!
Oh, one other quick thing...That huge backing plate acts as a dust shield as well as caliper mount. Could i cut all that extra crap off. Heres a pic of what i have in mind. Note*the green is where im gonna trim off.

i wouldnt. those b-plate are great to have, you can rest the entier truck on them and not kill them. you can very easly sell/trade them for some half ones that are more common. the half ones are built thicker in that area, i dont know how well they would hold up cut up like that , it would lose a lot of shape/tortional strength

Yep,I've had those ones that are just mounts with sheet metal crack on just a stock 73 blazer before.I would not trim them either. They also protect the rotor from rocks and other crap.

afaik, the difference in the bigger bores is the difference between 1/2 and 3/4 ton. D44 and 10b should be the same for the same application, aside from the fact that D44's have a 7/16" banjo bolt, and 10b's have a 10mm banjo bolt.

So the 10b brake caliper will bolt right up then to that caliper mount i have??
And since its a 10mm banjo my stock toyota brake line ought to mount right in there then, cause i believe that the toyota brake line fittings are 10mm with a banjo bolt there as well.

yes, they have the same caliper bolt size and spacing. the only difference is the banjo bolt.
and your brake lines still may not work. i cant remember if where the brake line bolts to the caliper has a special shape or not. sometimes that makes a difference.
